COVID-19 First Round Payment Data Visualization: New York City is First

March 17 2022 - The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in The bipartisan CARES Act and the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act which provided $175 billion in relief funds to hospitals and other healthcare providers on the front lines of the coronavirus response. During the first round of payment, New York city was first. Brooklyn and Bronx were second and third.



New York city received $1.16 billion. Brooklyn received $0.76 billion. Bronx received $0.68 billion.





  • New York city receiving $1.16 billion accounted for 9.60% of 1st round payment.

  • Across all 264 cities, 1st round payment ranged from $7.6 million to $1.16 billion.
